The Japan America Society of Greater Cincinnati (JASGC) will host an introduction to “The Way of Tea,” or Chanoyu, offering an exploration of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony and its cultural significance. The program introduces participants to the philosophy and practice of Chanoyu through an informative presentation, demonstration, and matcha experience.

Chanoyu, also known as Sadō or “The Way of Tea,” is a meditative Japanese cultural practice centered on the preparation and serving of matcha. JASGC’s tea-ceremony programming highlights the intentional gestures, hospitality, aesthetics, and mindfulness that are central to the tradition.
