During the 19th century, for many communities in the United States, it was customary to read the Declaration of Independence in public every 4th of July. In 2025, we revived the tradition in Greater Cincinnati, It was the first time in 100 years that the "document that changed the world," was read aloud in a public setting on the Fourth of July in the Queen City.

As 2026 is the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration, this year's edition of the "A Public Reading of the Declaration of Independence" is even more poignant. And there will be a measure of music mixed-in to the program to add to the specialness of the day. A FUN, FREE, family-friendly celebration for patriots of all ages, you will leave Eden Park with a revived faith in the “American Experiment." Come early to find a seat, or bring your own chair or blanket and sit on the grassy hillside.

A cohort of twenty readers, people who were selected for their community spirit and community service, will each read a “portion” of the Declaration of Independence. The reading will be followed by a performance by No Promises Vocal Band and more.
